Appearing only when there is dire need of it, the Room of Requirement changes shape, size and is always be equipped for the purpose for which it is needed.

The entrance to Grifindor's common room is behind the portrait of the Fat Lady, and a password is required to reveal the circular entrance to the common room. Filled with comfy armchairs for students to enjoy after a day of studying, and a bulletin board on the wall, the Griffindor common room is a very comfortable place.

Ravenclaw's common room is located on the fifth floor, at the top of a spiral staircase. Instead of a portrait and a password, Ravenclaws meet a door with no handle, but a bronze eagle knocker that asks them a riddle. If they answer the riddle incorrectly, they must wait for someone who can provide the correct answer. The Ravenclaw common room is a wide, circular room which has domed ceilings and students can view the mountains. The Ravenclaw common room is set up for studying, with many bookcases and and chairs good for studying in.
