READY TO COME HOME AGAIN
The Burrow, it was home, it was where he had spent most of his life, aside from the six years that he had spent around Hogwarts. Ron loved this place, it was where he went for Holidays and could smell the food waft from the open windows, hearing the crushing footsteps going up the landing to his and his other sibling’s rooms. It was home, it was a place where he could go that no troubles came his way, none of the drama and excessively amount of students that pushed through the school without a care in the world. Ron was happy to be home, if only for however short of a time. It was familiar, it was comfortable, it wasn’t something that he could turn away easily. Staring emptily up at his ceiling, Ron rolled onto his stomach, adjusting himself to sit straight up – there was something that he could do, homework? Bloody hell no, it was empty trying to read through things that didn’t matter, papers and homework that would go unnoticed was far more entertaining of a thought than having to humor himself with doing it. Running a hand through his unkept ginger hair that was very Weasley, Ron stood to trudge to go practice Quidditch.
Before he even had a chance to grab his broom that stood in the corner of his room, Molly’s raised voice bellowed up the stairway. ”Ron!” he knew that tone, it meant that there was something having to be done and the time for himself to play Quidditch. Rolling his eyes he trudged down the stairs and wandered into the kitchen, to where his mother was busily trying to keep the kitchen from exploding into chaos. ”Yes mum?” he inquired sneaking a roll from out of the basket that lay on the table. ”I need you to take care of the gnomes, they’re everywhere!” Molly uttered as she turned to look at him. ”The gnomes aren’t hurting anyone.” which was as valid of a response that he could come up with. ”Out, and take Ginny with you.” she insisted sternly as Molly returned her attention to what he hoped to be dinner. ”Ginny!” Ron bellowed up the stairs as he held onto the railing, looking for his younger sister. Stuffing the roll into his mouth he pushed open the backdoor hatch and wandered out to the backyard, tiny gnomes darting between vegetables and various other vegetation that was found in their backyard. – So maybe their mother was right and there was a bit of excess of gnomes, but really they weren’t intelligent and even lacking intelligence, they would find a hole in the fence someway and then it would start all over.
Finishing off his roll, his mouth stuffed with bread, as he trudged lazily towards where he’d find his prey. Locking his blue eyes on the nearest one, a scraggly thing, who stared at him with big eyes. Throwing himself at it, the tiny creature darted, bolting out of the way as it let off a tiny cackle. ”Come back here you raging menace.” Ron growled as he simmered in the dirt pile that he had landed in.
