ON TOP OF IT ALL
Hogwarts, it was as much of a keep as it was a home, granted Rolf hadn’t always felt comfortable within its walls, but it had been a safe place for him. A place that he had enjoyed to go to year after year regardless of it keeping him from the things that he loved. An education was powerful, it was necessary, it wasn’t something that he could be lax on. Sure there was more than a few moderate classes that he didn’t do particularly well in, but that was all water under the bridge, Rolf knew what he was going to do with his life and knew what was going to happen as soon as he left Hogwarts so felt no pressure to really excel at anything, though he surely tried in more than a few classes. As a seventh year he was going to hit the end of his years here and he needed to make sure that Rolf left the hallowed halls of Hogwarts with a bang – or at least leave in a way that shown that he had become better since his first year where a very scraggly young boy wandered into the halls so many years ago.
Nostalgic wasn’t really his style, so Rolf had taken the time instead of lurking inside the castle and moseyed his way towards the Forest. The forest had been a place that had been particularly fond of in his years here, if only because there was more than a fair share of discovery within it. It was Forbidden sure, but Rolf had yet to really listen to that particular rule, he had seen Dragons, Manticores, Kelpies and other fearful creatures over the years, whatever this particular forest held wasn’t going to top those adventures that Rolf had when he was barely old enough to carry himself. The idea that he was better than everyone else and could enter the forest without permission was a bit arrogant, but he was a man – he was old enough to make his own life decisions and if that meant he wanted to risk his life into the forest, well then so be it.
The tall lanky boy slipped in through the break in trees, if it was so forbidden they should have made it far harder to access. Strolling he carefully pulled an apple out of his pocket, taking a large healthy bite out of the red skin and munched pleasantly as he wandered, he wasn’t sure what he was looking for, but would come up with a plan as soon as it came to him. Rolf could easily go to the hallow where the Thestrals lived, where there was the ones that looked after the castle, or go further in. Unicorns and Centaurs roamed it would be a bit of a distance but maybe it was worth it? Unicorns weren’t particularly friendly, but Rolf knew how to be cautious around them, not to mention Centaurs didn’t really particularly like humans, but had gotten used to his presence over the years and let him by – if only by a little. They didn’t like him, just knew he wasn’t a threat as he was merely looking for magical creatures as he had explained on numerous occasions. Taking another bite of apple thoughtfully he could hear the snap of a twig behind him, turning quickly he looked, seeing only a bit of fabric as it went behind a tree. ”Alright come out of there. I don’t appreciate being followed you.” Rolf insisted as he looked for the person to come out.
