Ursus had stood up carefully, and begun to brush the wet leaves and dirt from his hands and jeans, when he happened to glace up the hill to see were they were, only to catch sight of the one person he'd been actively trying to avoid for months: Rolf Scamander, Luna's new "friend".

He silently made his way up to stand beside his brother, and swallowed hard, biting his lower lip, "Its Scamander..."

He felt Alician give a start beside him, and vaguely realized that his brother hadn't noticed him come up.

"You know each other?" Alician said, sounding incredulous.

Did Ursus know Rolf? No. He was pretty sure they'd never crossed paths before. The only reason he knew of Rolf was because he knew Luna, and he knew they were friends. He was pretty sure that up till this moment, Rolf Scamander had had no inkling that Ursus Black even existed. Sorta like how Luna barely noticed Ursus existed...

"Never spoken once..." Ursus said looking away and feeling foolish. What kind of idiot gets jealous over a guy who's friends with a girl, that that idiot doesn't even have the guts to talk to most days??

'This idiot...' Ursus thought glumly, looking for all the world like a beaten dog.

He could feel his brother's icy blue eyes burning a hole through him, but honestly couldn't be bothered to care. He suddenly didn't feel like exploring any more, and gave a half hearted glance back at the brambles that he'd just fought his way out of. The gash on his left cheek stung just looking at it, and so he stayed put and fingered the cut, wincing.

He looked back up the hill, and trying to ignore Rolf, looked at the other boy. He knew it was one of the Knights, which one was a mystery. But he was pretty sure it was the fourth year... He looked over at his brother, and then back up at Knight... Maybe he was wrong, that boy looked a lot older than Alician did after all...

Ev sympathised with his plight but his emotion was quickly cut off as the boy-giant gathered up the three-headed dog like it weighed nothing and sprinted off into the wilderness that was the Forbidden Forest, leaving him alone with Rolf. Not that he was complaining. Hagrid and Fluffy had been charming in their own unique sort of way but there was no shadow of the doubt that the Seventh year felt much more secure to be around. The voices he had heard not two minutes beforehand suddenly became much clearer as they revealed themselves to be attached to bodies. The first boy in his line of vision was one that he actually recognised, which was saying something as Ev was rarely out and about. But he had to suppress a groan. Of anyone that he could have met on the climax of this disaster of a day in a clearing in the middle of the Forbidden Forest… it had have been Alician Black, didn’t it? The Slytherin was in his year and (god, it had been a while ago now) Ev had once stolen Laura away from him. But those were the wrong words… he hadn’t stolen her as such. He wasn’t that kind of guy, no sir. Nevertheless, Ev had started dating Laura an, in reflection, indiscrete amount of time after she and Alician Black had broken up. It had never really been an obstacle as such, but through shared classes and the like, Ev had always felt quite guilty for that tiny indiscretion. And being confronted now by Alician Black was not the kind of prospect that he truly relished. He could feel the imprint of the warm wood of his wand where it was hidden up his forearm and muttered a prayer under his breath that he wouldn’t have to use it.
