Today started out as just a usual routine for the brown haired boy. Colin Creevey got up from his bed, stretching his arms then he set his foot down on the floor. His roomates had gone earlier than usual it seemed. He moved himself to the nearest window with one hand scratching the back of his head. The sun was already up. He could see some people walking on the grassy ground outside the school, trying to spend all the time they had got before their first lesson of the day. Speaking of which, he checked the time, he better get going before that happens. Can't study with an empty stomach after all.

He went into the bathroom of the Gryffindor tower for usual morning prepares and once came out, that sleepy looking face was completely replaced by an energetic grin toward anyone who was there in the common room, the sleeping outfit consisting a loose T-shirt and boxers was changed into the uniform. He ran up to his room to take the camera with him. The camera he treasured so much he nearly jumped after it when it fell into the fighting area during the Triwizard first task. Thanks Merlin, he managed to retrieved it then fixed it up, even though he had lost all the photos stored inside. So yeah, everything were set. The fifth year Gryffindor walked outside, heading for the Great Hall, smiling and greeting everyone he saw on the way. Sometimes stopping to take a quick picture.

When he arrived, the Hall had already been filled with a lot of people. They were chatting, eating, even running around, none of them cared if Colin was there or not. He wondered if Harry had done eating since he didn't see the upper class boy there. "Morning... Hey Dennis!... Good morning... had a nice sleep?" He greeted almost everyone at the Gryffindor table while looking for a seat, whether they replied to him or not. He just loved to greet people for some reason. Colin eventually sat down on an empty seat and looked at the food.

"Bacon, omelette, toast,... Awesome! I love these! Oh and milk too! Great! " He said cheerfully despite the fact that he had eaten them for thousands of times. He took a dish full of his favorites and began eating his breakfast.

Of course, some of it could be simplified by a quick bit of magic, but ever since a major disaster in third year Ginny remained firmly in the belief that there was no substitute for hot water and a bar of soap. Indeed, on this occasion (she had used a scouring charm) all the dead skin and hair had been stripped from her body and she had run with her robes over her head howling to Madam Pomfrey, red raw and half bald. But now she merely stepped into the shower for a quick wash, dried her hair with a quick tap (at least that was something she could speed up with magic) and dressed before heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast while most of her roommates were still snoring. She liked a big breakfast in the mornings to set her up for the day, something her mother had instilled within her and so it was with particular anticipation that she looked forward to the magnificent morning banquet courtesy of the Hogwarts house elves. Quite a lot of people were already up and the hall was milling with them. Ginny ran her eyes along the table looking, seemingly in vain, for a place to sit. She spied an empty seat at the far end of the hall and walked along the table, stopping to share the occasional word with someone she knew particularly well and eventually slid in opposite Colin Creevey. He was in her year and house mate (which meant they had almost every class together) and had a camera pressed against his face constantly, but that meant less than nothing for Ginny. Her family spent most of their respective childhoods airborne. Colin spent it taking photos. Same difference. And Ginny would give quite a few Knuts to see his photo collection; she’d bet he’d got some good ones over the last five years. “Hey Colin.” She said smiling, reaching over towards him to scoop up some bacon to make a sandwich. “What’s up?” words; 350 tag; colin creevey note; i'm slower! template made by missickle

Just as he was chewing the toast and eyeing around, another familiar face appeared among the people. That ginger hair could never be mistaken to any others. So far, only one girl in the Gryffindor posessed such nice hair color. She was Ginevra Weasley, everyone called her Ginny though. He was the same year as her, thus seeing her in almost every classes. They talked to each other quite many times before, but mostly it was him talking actually. As for lately, he hadn't spoke to her much because he was busy following Harry around, congratulating him for becoming Hogwarts's champion, and then attended the Triwizard to support his idol. Um, well, Ginny was there too, but he was more focused on taking good photos.

Ginny, after sometime talking to her friends, came over and sat down on the seat opposite of his. “Hey Colin. What’s up?” She greated him with a smile.

"Hey Ginny." Colin grinned in reply. " Good morning"

He stopped eating for a few minutes to look at her. Being a photographer, Colin had taken a liking to many things, one of which was the Weasley's hair color. It looked pretty nice, it was like the color of flame. And Ginny's hair of course was much prettier than her sibling's because she was a girl, and girls were pretty good at taking care of their hair. He sometimes took pictures of her when he got the chance to (either with or without her knowing it). Now he could even produce colored moving-photos too, and the hair was fascinating in there.

"You seems happy. Everything been good? Or did you have a good dream? Good dreams always give me awesome feeling in the morning." He asked (and talked), pouring the milk into his cup.

For some reason she was always much hungrier in the mornings than at any other time of day. Indeed, the morning after the welcoming feast she usually scoffed a full breakfast while others looked queasy and popped a couple of grapes. It was a gift. Or an oddity. Whichever way you wanted to look at it. ”You seem happy. Everything been good?” Colin asked. Mornings were the best time of day, not just for the food, but also because everything was fresh and unless you hadn’t done your homework, you could look forward to the day ahead. “I am happy, Colin. It’s a new day, we have the rest of the Triwizard Tournament to look forward to, and I did all my homework last night!” She grinned. “By the way, did you catch what Professor Turnbull said about horned slugs last week? I’ve been agonising about it all night!” ”Or did you have a good dream? Good dreams always give me awesome feeling in the morning." Colin told her and Ginny nodded in agreement as she licked ketchup off her fingers; that was all that remained of her bacon sandwich. Grabbing the ladle for a bowl of scrambled egg, Ginny began to heap it onto her plate. "Laugh and I’ll stab you with this ladle, but I dreamed that I had an arm wrestle with the Giant Squid and I won.” Despite her threat, Ginny herself let out a little giggle, an unusual self-indulgence. “So I heard you got onto the Quidditch team?” Ginny enquired, beaming in congratulations. “What position?” She waved the ladle in a slightly random manner and watched it fall onto her robes. “Damn… tergeo.” She muttered, pointing her wand at the stain and feeling very pleased as it was wiped clean. "The Triwizard tournament, yes! The first task was great, I could've gotten a lot of photo of Harry and the dragons if I didn't broke my camera there. Too bad." He commented when Ginny said they had the rest of the tournament to look forward to. Colin sipped the milk as he listened to her. Mmm, he loved milk, not only because of how it taste but it also reminded him of his home. He grew up in the countryside where the milk were always fresh with no silly alternated flavour. He couldn't stand a weird smell in the milk at all.

However, when the girl mentioned the lesson they had last week, his expression went down a little. He didn't like slugs. They were slimy, soft kind of creature. Only seeing one could give him the feeling of it crawling on his skin. It wasn't a good thing, and they had to work with those slugs during the lesson. It was creepy. If he had known they would be doing that, he would've skipped that class. "I didn't quite catch that either. He might have said something about them eating somekind of leaves, but I don't care... I hate slugs." He replied, a little disgust in the last statement. Then moved the subject to something else.

"Laugh and I’ll stab you with this ladle" Ginny threatened him after he asked her about her dream last night. It wasn't easy for Colin to not laugh or smile at something, but a threat might. He stopped smiling just then for Ginny to continue. "But I dreamed that I had an arm wrestle with the Giant Squid and I won.” She said.

"Cool! I one time had a funny dream in which I turned Malfoy and his two minions into cows. Then professor Snape came and his clothes were turned into that of a cow-girl. I think I told Harry that before." Colin said excitedly, he would have laughed but no, he didn't want to be stabbed so early in the morning. Even if it was just a joke. Speaking of giant squid, he had always wanted to arm-wrestle with the squid for real actually. His brother Dennis even got rescued by it in his first year and he wanted something as awesome to happen to him. "Man, I wish it really happened. I don't hate Snape that much but it's obviously hilarious"

“So I heard you got onto the Quidditch team?” Ginny asked “What position?”

Oh, right, he did try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team a month earlier and was accepted. He did run around spreading the news to everyone he could see in the tower yesterday and spent the whole night talking about it with his brother and roomates, hence he woke up a bit later than usual today. Colin attemped to respond to that but was interrupted when the Weasley girl made the ladle fell on her robe by accident. He put one hand into his robe's inside-pocket to get his wand, thinking he should help with a cleaning spell. But Ginny was already ahead of doing that. Knowing his wand was not needed anymore, Colin relaxed and slipped the wand back into the pocket.

" Um, about the Quidditch." Colin began to speak after a few seconds of awkwardness. "Yeah, I was accepted into the team a couple days ago. I've been watching and taking pictures of the game for a while now and decided I should practice. Then I went to try out. Harry accepted me to be a chaser." The boy felt like he could go on and on about it. It was exciting afterall cause he'll get to play with Harry and crush the Slytherin team. He disliked those snakes who kept on mocking others. "You're on the team too, right? I think your brother mentioned you."

If she had loved to photograph like him, then she would have been devastated at the loss. Just thinking about the equivalent, breaking her broom, made her feel awful, like she’d broken her arm. “I enjoyed it too.” Ginny said with a vague smile. “But I’m sorry you broke your camera.” Colin didn’t look so happy as she mentioned slugs and Ginny supposed that it was only fair. You couldn’t expect people to react well if you mentioned slimy invertebrate while they were eating breakfast. “Ah it’s okay.” Ginny grinned. “I’ll just wing it if he asks.” Colin hadn’t been very helpful, but did make Ginny feel better about not listening last week. She had been concentrating far too hard on not looking at those disgusting slugs. And even worse, they had horns. Ginny spat out a mouthful of pumpkin juice as he told her about his dream with Malfoy-cows and a cowgirl Snape. It really was the funniest image that you could hope to conjure in your mind. But the downside of that was that her drink had been spat all over Colin’s face and Ginny felt the tips of her ears go red. Yes she was a Weasley and had everything from her heritage to her freckles insulted almost every day, but that was no excuse for poor table manners. She fished for a tissue in the spacious pocket of her robes, found one that was not particularly dirty and leaned across the table to dab at his face. She felt she had got the worst of it off when she accidently found Colin’s brown eyes. Ginny realised that what she had been doing could have easily been misconstrued and she quickly sat back down, flushed right to the tips of her hairline. There was a long and awkward silence before Colin began to talk of Quidditch again and Ginny relaxed. Here at least, there was a topic area where she could redeem herself. She managed a smile at him as he told her how he had got on the team, suppressing the twists of resentment and jealousy inside her. Those were her brother’s traits, not hers. “Alternate.” She answered quickly, as if it was a shame and not an accomplishment. “I’ve been a reserve for the last three years.” And this time she couldn’t keep a note of bitterness from creeping into her voice. As she grinned at Colin, her hand slipped down to the pocket of her robes again. She had felt something in there when she had found her tissue and brought it up now again to look at it. It was a yellow sweet, something Fred had mailed her last week when she’d been down. Try it out he’d told her. On somebody else though. Give you a good laugh. Hearing Ginny's words on the story of his broken camera, Colin shook his head with a small laughter. Then he held up the camera he had been hanging on his neck. " It's fine now. Hermione taught me the spell to fix it. See? It's good as new now. I lost the previous films, couldn't fix them. But It's okay, I can take new ones anyway. " Just as he was saying, Colin pushed the buttons a few times, taking a phe photos of her right there. " I'll give you a few when the photo comes out "

As the conversation went on, he mentioned a dream he had. The reaction of Ginny after hearing one of his dreams was ... priceless. It made him think he should reconsider before saying such thing while people were drinking. It was a shame he was busy protecting his camera and couldn't catch that moment into his film. It would be a one of a kind photo for his collection. Colin managed to save the camera, but not his face. After that, he had pumpkin juice all over his face, dripped down onto his robe. Colin intended to find something to clean himself up, he was searching his robe's pocket when he felt something soft touched his face. He looked up, seeing Ginny leaning over from her seat and was using a tissue to clean the water on his face. He was speechless. Aside from his mother, no one ever did something like that. He felt his face was getting hot, he bet it had gotten red by now.

Ginny soon sat back down. She didn't seem in much better condition, they were both blushing. "...uh...thanks...it's...I got milk spilled on me before...it's fine, really...you didn't have to..." He avoided looking at her for the first time. Both of them went silent awkwardly. Colin hoped no one saw what just happened between them, it would be hard to explain. He began to divert the awkwardness by talking about Quidditch, the usual grin finally came back.

He later noticed there was a different bit in her voice as she talked about her position in the team. He guessed she didn't like being an Alternate. Understandable, he wouldn't either. " I guess you are their secret weapon. You must be very good at it so they decided to put you as alternate thinking later you will surprise the other teams."

Ginny looked down at something in her hand, then brought it up toward him. “Fancy a sweet?” Said the Weasley girl. Colin looked at it, a yellow colored candy, though he had never seen one like it. Without any suspicion, the boy grinned and received it. "Sure, thanks." A little sweet after meal wouldn't hurt. He unwarped it and threw it into his mouth.

It was nice to see such enthusiasm in someone for once. Apart from the rabid Harry/Tom/Alec fangirls, there didn’t seem to be much passion in this school anymore. Days slid from one to the next without distinguishing themselves and Ginny found them so, so dull. The way Colin’s eyes lit up when he was talking about his photography, it was refreshing and well… cute. She’d never thought about him that way before, always too hung up on Harry Potter and his lazy charm to pay much attention to other boys, but it came to her now that Colin was sort of attractive, in a scrawny way. He started to take photos of her, but Ginny didn’t find it annoying. Instead she jokingly posed for a few, making ridiculous faces and sticking her tongue out at the camera. "I'll give you a few when the photo comes out." Colin told her and she grinned appreciatively. “Thanks Colin.” She told him, finishing off the large pile of scrambled egg that had been on her plate and chugging down some pumpkin juice. It didn’t taste all that great, but it gave her lots of energy for the day ahead. She made sure to swallow it quickly this time though, wouldn’t want a repeat of the previous catastrophe. Colin was stammering what sounded like a thank you, but she couldn’t quite tell with all the nervous false starts. The subject turned back to Quidditch again, thank God. “Thanks Colin, but I think that Harry was thinking less about secret weapons and more about the better players for the team.” She shrugged and exhaled regretfully. “And anyway, there aren’t going to be any inter-house matches this year, so it didn’t matter if I made the team or not. Next year’s try outs are going to be much more important!” She grinned like a Cheshire cat when he took the sweet from her. It was bad she knew, to take advantage of this guy when he was so nice, but he seemed like the type who would just laugh along with her when he turned into a canary, or a chicken, or whatever it was that Fred and George had enchanted these sweets to be. Colin was never the type to doubt people, especially people from the same House, and Ginny was one of his good friend. No matter how many time he was pranked, he just couldn't suspect anyone. He ate the sweet without any suspicion, even cheerful. The candy tasted very nice too, like a mixture of various fruits. Nothing went wrong for the first one minute. Then he felt a little itchy. He didn't mind it much, because it was minor. But it began to get worse to the point he could hardly talk normally, nor could he sit straight anymore. Everywhere was itchy, mostly his back. Was it something in the candy? Definitely there was, obviously...

Then, so sudden that everyone else turned and stare at where he was sitting, Colin heard a loud ripping sound as if a knife was tearing the back of his robe. Something large sprouted out. Not just one, but two. A pair of really large and sparkling rainbow butterfly wings. "Cool, look at this! What was inside that candy?" Colin looked behind him, surprised but also excited. It took a while for people to realize what was going on. They began laughing so hard he thought the Great Hall would crumble. The Slytherins stood up from their seat (some actually fell backward from all the laughing).

"Hahah...n..haha.. Nice wings, fairy!" Someone yelled between his laughter.

"Whoah" Colin himself was forced out of his feet, 'his wings' had began to flip themselves like a real butterfly, taken him into mid air. Just to add some more effect, his skin's color also switched color, one after another, like a chameleon popping color. From colorful spiral to random colored round spots. Didn't took him long to figure out who gave Ginny the candy actually. He didn't have time for question and all, he was speechless at this point because the wings acted on their own and took him wherever they wanted, throwing its fairy dust everywhere. The professors left their table, demanding to know what happened but they were overwhelmed by the excited students.

While the Hall became kind of chaotic, he was actually quite enjoying it. He was. Until it led him to a wall and he couldn't stop it. He managed to turn himself somehow before hitting the wall. And BAM!

He fell down, luckily it wasn't high, Prof. McGonagall arrived just in time and transfigured out a bunch of pillows for him to fall on. Colin didn't get any injury beside a bruise on the shoulder, he tottered up. But the wings were broken and crumbled into something colorfully odd behind him. Didn't stop his skin from switching color though.

"I want to know who caused this!" McGonagall said loudly, pulling him over to the middle of the hall, fast but gently.

Colin looked at Ginny and, without thinking, turned to the Transfiguration professor. "No Professor, It was... I found a candy on the floor... I tried it" He said, trying to cover up for the girl, hoping no one saw Ginny gave him the candy. She might get a detention for that. McGonagall stared at him as if not thinking he was that stupid to eat something he found on the floor. The nervousness made his skin color changed even faster.

She did feel kind of bad about basically using Colin but that was outweighed by her anticipation of the comedic delights that were soon to come. Ginny bit her lip and watched him, waiting… Then a large ripping sound filled the Hall and the buzz of chatter fell away as it seemed that everyone had turned to look at them in curiosity. Two enormous rainbow wings had sprouted from Colin’s back and there was a moment of stunned silence before the Hall erupted into gales of laughter, Ginny along with them. "Cool, look at this! What was inside that candy?" Colin wanted to know and she hesitated guiltily. It was something my brothers sent me.”“ Ginny told him quietly, almost inaudibly amongst the volume of the Hall. “It’s just a joke, Colin.” She said defensively, although he didn't seem to be mad at her. Quite the opposite in fact, he seemed gleeful with his new body parts and knowing Colin it was only a matter of time before he worked out how to use them to gain a little bit of… altitude! She had just come to this conclusion when Colin flew right out of his seat and into the air. His skin colour started changing radically, flashing blue, purple, orange… were they polka dots? Wow! The Hall was a mess. There was fairy dust everywhere and people were grouped together yelling and pointing up at Colin. Ginny couldn’t blame them; it was a spectacle after all! It was even funny, until Colin almost smacking his face on a wall, turning just in time and fell to the floor. It could have been nasty if there weren’t pillows suddenly beneath him, courtesy of McGonagall who was racing towards him, wand outstretched. Ginny, too, was running fast towards him, skidding to a stop before she hit the wall à-la-Colin and fell to her knees beside him. “Are you okay?” She asked panicky in her worry for him. But before he could answer her McGonagall went on the warpath. ”I want to know who caused this!” She said angrily and Ginny’s heart was in her throat, despite having been in trouble many, many times before. But this was a serious offence and she didn’t want to be suspended or expelled, or worse, put into detention until the end of the year. But a huge wave of relief washed through her when Colin told the professor that he had just picked it up off the floor. She curled into him, putting an arm around his back to straighten him up into a sitting position. McGonagall abjusted her glasses as her eyes slowly scanning the hall. After a while, it seemed that she believed the boy's story. She looked at Colin with her usual stern look. "Mr. Creevey, you just lost 5 points for Gryffindor. I hope this will teach you not to eat anything you found on the floor in the future. You should be glad you wasn't injured." Then she turned her attention to Ginny as the girl asked if she could take Colin to the hospital wing and nodded. "Thank you, Ms.Weasley. You two should hurry up, classes will be starting in one hour" And she dismissed the two.

Colin apologized to her before leaving the hall with Ginny. "5 points aren't that much. We can just get it back. Much better than detention don't you think?" After they had gone far enough, the boy began to talk with a low enough voice.

"My brother would be so jealous of this~ You said your brothers made it right? Brilliant!" He grinned excitedly, ignoring anyone who stared at them on their way. One would find it odd to be laughing at something like that, especially when they had popping colored skin and a crumbled pair of wings weakly moving behind your back. "Too bad these wings are broken. And I can't try another one again soon, or at least I don't think I should. Better not make Prof. McGonagall any more angry."

Then he looked down at his camera and was pleased to see it was okay. He remember clicking the button a bunch of times whilst he was flying. this should be interesting. "You know, I think that's what everyone needs. Something to fire up their mood beside the Triwizard tournament. It had gotten boring around here."

Indeed he didn’t seem even the slightest bit concerned about his predicament or the (admittedly quite small) number of house points they had just lost. She helped him up with one arm under his and the other grasped firmly around his back, positioned as to not squash his wings any more than they had already been squashed. “Yeah,” she said vaguely in agreement to his assertion that points lost where better than detention. She just felt very guilty that it was Colin who had lost the points and not her… and very grateful to. “Yeah they did,” Ginny smiled faintly. Fred and George would be very happy to know that they had a new and enthusiastic customer! Especially one that loved the product so much, even though he’d had an embarrassing trip around the great hall as some kind of really messed up bird. But then again, it didn’t surprise her that he had enjoyed it. He was one of the loveliest people that she had ever had the pleasure of meeting. “Yes, if that happened again I think we’d probably both get detention!” She shuddered inwardly at the thought of making Professor McGonagall angry. It was a prospect that every student with two brain cells to rub together tried strenuously to avoid. She smiled to herself as he began fiddling with his camera again. If he’d got some good pictures out of his little sojourn to the air this morning then he would be even happier than he already was and Ginny would feel a lot better too.
