WANT TO BELONG
Prefect duty, it was likely one of the dullest jobs that he had. Sure he enjoyed having the title, but the idea that he had to actually wander the school halls and try and find students who were up to no good was a bit of a downer. Sure he was able to throw his weight around because he was perfectly capable of doing so, but really half of the people listened to him and the other half well – they were likely in awe of his magnificence. Or at least that is what he would continue to tell himself as he strolled down the stairwell ensuring that most if not all of the other students were where they needed to be. It was just after dinner so most of his school mates should be either back into their dormitories or in the library. Personally he much rather be relaxing up in the Tower, but here he was, wandering down to the fourth floor after watching a pair of shady looking students go down there giggling. Though he wasn’t quite sure what had made him jump to the conclusion that they were shady, when everyone looked positively the same aside from the color of trims that they had, and their hair colour.
Briskly he found himself at the hallway entrance for the fourth floor, what was even on this floor for students to take an interest? Surely not the study hall that was one of the many places that most would avoid, while sure there was the History of Magic classroom, but even when it was required to attend people avoided it as if it was some kind of plague. Looking around the corner cautiously he made sure that there was not some kind of trap, it would be just like a pair of prat Slytherin’s to try and drench him with something terribly sticky or to hex at him with something tragic. Finding the hallway miraculously cleared, he stepped into the hallway, holding out his wand just in case something came out to surprise him. Though even Ron wouldn’t know what to do if something surprising did happen to jump out, was he supposed to do? Stun them was one of his first reactions, or to try and disarm them, whatever the reason he would find those mischievous students and get them out of here and off to where they needed to go.
Ron carefully began to open empty classroom doors, hoping not to find some prats snogging or something else that was just as equally revolting. Granted he didn’t find it revolting if it was happening to him, but for anyone else it was just disgusting. The idea that others got the adoration and love from someone else of the opposite sex – or even in some cases, was just enough to make him vomit. Even worst was the idea that his own sister could be snogging some git up in the common room and Ron wasn’t even there to stop it, though that would give some kind of resentment, but she was his little sister. Wherever those prats had gone off they were doing a fantastic job of hiding themselves, groaning he gave up, stuffing his wand into his back pocket and casually adjusted his badge against his chest, he stuffed his hands deep into his pockets. Now what? He could go back to the dormitory, or maybe lurk around here, to make sure that those students didn’t show up again. Determined to do something other than the homework that waited for him up in the dorm, Ron took a seat into a window sill, shoving one of his underneath him as he sat comfortably with the other dangling the space between the window and the floor. He would miss Hogwarts if only a little when he graduated when he got to become a seventh year, even if it was becoming quite a dangerous place, it needed more people to stand up for those who couldn’t.
