Ursus Sirius Black was a strong believer in the old Adage: The more, the merrier. The boy loved being surrounded by people. To hear the steady murmur of voices, to look around and be surrounded on all sides by the familiar faces of his friends and schoolmates. He also enjoyed being in the Great Hall, which was alight with a thousand floating candles and warmed by the blazing fires in each of the large ornate fireplaces.
Smiling serenely the young Ravenclaw tilted his head back and looked up at the enchanted ceiling high above, watching the large fluffy snowflakes come floating down.
Winter had come to Hogwarts, bringing with it the first snow storm of the season. All Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures Classes had been canceled until further notice. Likewise, Flying Classes and Quidditch Practices had been suspended as well. While the last bit especially had been met with displeasure by many of the children, the free periods that the cancellations opened up in the students schedules were not unwelcome.
Ursus was supposed to be having Care of Magical Creatures Class right then. Instead he was sitting with Hesta and Elliot Banks, Alexis Cromwell, Jack Bardock, and several other friends from various house, at what was normally the Gryffindor Table...
Matthew Padmore was supposed to be coming soon. The young Hufflepuff had begged Elliot to save him a seat and had then run off half ways in tears trying to get to the library to check out several books he needed for an Essay for Defense Against the Dark Arts. (Which he was failing currently due to poor grades on his practicals...)
Ursus watched as Caitlin Lusk walked in, narrowly missing slamming into the Slytherin table, her nose (as usual) stuffed in a book. Raynard Bardock who had entered behind the girl managed to reach forward and turn her at the last second. Leading to many a raised eyebrow, since when did Slytherins help Gryffindors?
...Though then. Raynard was strange all the way around. It was probably due to his younger brother being a Gryffindor that he didn't show the proper amount of uncaring disdain for them... Or so the Rumor Mill spun it...
Ursus looked down at the picture he'd been drawing. It was a picture of two Hippogriffs playing in the snow. It was a little childish in its execution, but still, you could clearly tell what the animals where, and sort of tell that it was snow and not sand or water that they where romping through... The boy went back to the task of shading the snow, so that it looked more like snow.
"You should add a tree or two with snow on the branches." Alexis said around a mouth full of scones. (There were bowls of Christmas candies and other pastries at each table, along with pitchers of Milk and Spiced Pumpkin Eggnog, and small cauldrons of Hot Cocoa and warm Apple Cider.)
Ursus frowned a bit, "Trees?"
"Ya know, in the back ground." Alexis said, taking a big gulp of his Hot Cocoa.
Ursus looked at the picture... It did look awfully bare behind the Hippogriffs...
With a shrug he started to draw a tree, ignoring as Caitlin sat down nearby and started a conversation...
"Evening Rubeus, how did your last class go?" Caitlin asked sitting down. (Having finally lowered her book long enough to find her way over.)
"This is me talking"
'This is me thinking'
"This is someone else talking"
"This is any non-Human thing speaking"
