Fred hadn’t planned on coming to the ball, but now he was supposed to be Katie’s date. So now he was coming back to Hogwarts with the jealously of wanting to be in the tournament. He wished that they had done this while he was in the school. He would have entered in a heartbeat. It took him a little to get to the school since apparating into it would have just been too damn convenient. He had to walk from Hogsmeade after apparating there and lucky for him he knew some passageways to get in faster. When he approached the ballroom he saw Katie outside. The dress looked stunning on her and wasn’t ugly traditional kind. It was like his eyes were glued to her. His dress robes were nice though, unlike ickle Ronnikins and he was glad that he wouldn’t have to look embarrassing in front of her. Thank Merlin for the money from the shop. He snuck up from the side of her and tapped her on the shoulder, a large smile present on his face. "Hey there gorgeous."
She always forgot just how well Fred knew the castle; he came from wherever he wanted, whatever direction he could. She was looking for him where everyone else was, and suddenly he was tapping her on the shoulder. She turned, grinning brightly at the sight of him. Hey yourself," She greeted. He looked amazing. Without so much as a moment of hesitation, she stood on her toes, kissing him quickly, unable to help herself. After all that talk in their owls back and forth, she was desperate to know what it was like to kiss him. It didn't feel any different than kissing anyone else, other than the erupting of butterflies in her stomach. "I'm glad you came"
She looked surprised to see him, but maybe it was because he snuck upon her like that. He didn’t mean to, but she was looking the complete opposite way. Not everyone knew the castle like he did though. Plus with the help of that handy map he knew almost all there was to know about the place. “Good one,” he rolled his eyes at her greeting. His eyes ran over her body. She looked good, especially in that dress and he didn’t even remember the last time he saw her in person. She looked older, more mature, and woman-like even. His heart thumped loudly in his chest and he felt like everyone else could hear it too.
When she leaned up to kiss him it had caught him completely off guard. He hadn’t been expecting her to be that bold. If anything he thought that he would have kissed her, not the other way around. His hand found her back though and he rested it there as she kissed him. He returned it, his eyes shutting until she pulled away. A small pout tugged on his lips as she did. “I can see that,” he teased, dropping his hand from her back. It wasn’t anything special, and it was in front of few people, but all and all it was a nice kiss. However, he planned on giving her a nicer one later.

He'd been flip-flopping between coming to the ball or not. He didn't particularly have a reason not to other then the slightly major fact that he was terrified of large crowds, couldn't stand loud noises, and had no friends in the castle.
But those really were minor weren't they?
The young boy had mustered on the courage to throw on a rather old set of dress-robes and trudge into the great hall. He was late to the ball itself which didn't matter much. He was here more to say 'yes I went' if his father or anyone else asked him.
He looked around for a few minutes and almost turned to leave when he saw someone he almost recognized. She was in his house, there was no doubt about it but...other then that he had no idea who she was. She was alone, which was how he felt and the eleven year old mustered an almost painful-to-watch smile before waddling over to her in the to-large robes. he sat int eh chair next to her and attempted to be casual. "This whole thing is rather...isn't it? I never thought it'd...but I I wanted to at least... for a bit." Weather it was the fact that the music was blaring incredibly loudly or that the boy was a soft speaker (or quite possibly a combination of both) but many of his words were lost.
Larry didn't expect a random first year to come up to her and start talking to her. Most of the first years were told to stay away from Crazy Larry Michaelis. Then again, she wasn't technically crazy. Just random and addicted to music. Most of what he said, though was lost to Larry. A combination of the music, the fact that the boy spoke softly, and Larry's small attention span, made it hard for her hear him. "I didn't really hear you, but I know what you mean. I just came because of the music and dancing. You look like a first year. I'm Ellaria Michaelis, but just call me Larry. It's simpler. I'm a third year. What's your name?" Larry wanted to be nice to the kid. He seemed shy and nervous. Perhaps she could later add him to her small list of people she could consider friends.
She smiled at Fred, biting her lip because she knew it was silly of her to kiss him like that - she was just... nervous, and excited, and she wanted to kiss him again already. "I've been thinking about kissing you for a week" She defended herself, however weakly. It was probably not the right thing to say, since it only reminded her that she wanted to kiss him again. "Should we go in?" Or could she take him back to the common room and just kiss him for hours on the couch while everyone else was dancing. Now that she knew he was interested in her as she was in him, Katie was feeling a little more... needy, let's say, than she would have been, otherwise.
She bit her lip and he found it to be quite attractive. He’d like to be on those lips again but of course they had a ball to attend. Fred knew a few good broom closets though from his days back at the school. Not that it was very long ago. At least the kiss was over with too, even though he’d be thinking about doing it again all-night now. “Have you really?” he chortled. It was cute that she had been. “Me too,” he added, not wanting her to think she was silly. It was through though too. He had been thinking about it since he told her he was going to. That turned out to be the other way around though. He hadn’t been expecting that at all. She asked if they should go in and he craned his neck to see through the door. “We probably should.” He confirmed, noting that a lot of others were already in there. Fred took her hand gently and led her in the ball room, though he would have loved snogging her in an empty closet or something.
They made their way into the ball room, and Katie laced their fingers together, wondering whether this was a good idea. There were a lot of people who would be shocked by her showing up with Fred, and even more that would be shocked that she showed up at all. But she tried not to be nervous about it, because... well, since when did she care about what other people thought about what she did? "I hate things like this," She said quietly to him, "A few dances and then we can duck out?"

Susan smiled as she walked down the grand staircase on her way to the Yule Ball. She had been so afraid that she would be attending the ball alone. Especially since all of her plans to ask out Harry had failed, her cousins and friends were still teasing her after her last attempt. True she had thought randomly bumping into Harry in a hallway wasn’t the most original idea. However, her plan had failed in the end, Susan had bumped into an un-expecting Ravenclaw second year, causing her to fall on top of the poor girl. She probably scared the poor kid for life.
However, she was here now, dressed in her white dress robes, with her hair done in an elaborate bun. She had to thank Will for that. The seventh year had been one of her best friends since she could remember; true it had been her idea for the two of them to go together as friends. But Will could have said no to her, made her be the only one of her friends to go alone. But he had said yes, now Susan was attending the ball, with in her opinion, one the best guys in the world. She would never stop thanking him for that. Not that she would though, she wouldn’t want Will to think she was too desperate.
“Well, shall we go in Will?” Susan asked as she finished walking down the stairs. Giving him a huge smile, she was really excited about the Ball tonight. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun.

Will had taken far less time to get ready then Susan but he'd known that was coming. Even with the loads of hair gel he had to apply, he'd still been able to dress and sit out by the fire for nearly a half hour before she came own the winding steps that led to the dormitories. At the sound of footsteps (they were the only few Hufflepuff left in the tower), he turned to see her.
She really was gorgeous and although he didn't see her as more then a friend, he had to admit she did radiate a sense of beauty and his breath hitched for a moment. It was only a split second before his brain clicked back into place and he grinned. He dipped his head, bowing deeply as she hit the last few stairs on her way down. "Well, shall we go in Will?"
He rose and extended his arm to her, ready to lead her on the short walk from their dorms to the Great Hall where the ball was actually taking place. "We shall indeed. You look ravishing tonight, Susie. Mr Potter will eat his rejection." His words were harsh but his voice kind. Despite her terrible few tries of asking out the Champion, he had to admit, at least she had the guts to ask out the person she'd really wanted to go with. Will had not.
They arrived at the hall and he pushed open the doors to lead her in. His gaze instantly flickered around the room looking to see how many Hufflepuffs had shown up. His spare hand lifted to fiddle with the purple bow tie at his neck as he nervously noticed someone was missing from the gathered students so far...

As she and her date entered the great hall, Lydia gazed around in wonder at how the hall was decorated. It was perhaps the most beautiful Lydia had ever seen it. As her eyes moved around the room, she spotted a pair of Hufflepuffs one of which being Susan Bones who'd asked Harry to go with her tonight. That didn't make Lydia happy at all, but she offered them a polite smile a little forced though and looped her arm around Harry's. He was her date and if anybody dared try to interfere with that tonight, Lydia would show them exactly why they all though she was scary with a beater's bat. Wait, was she a little jealous? No, she couldn't be! That would mean she fancied him. Oh no. No way. It couldn't be true! But somehow it was. tag Everybody words idk lyrics what the water gave me - florence + the machine credit a girl with kaleidoscope eyes @ caution 2.0 notes Lydia's wearing this

HARRY JAMES POTTER
As he lifted himself from his small, but meaningful bow, he felt a sharp whack against his head and he felt himself rubbing the back of his neck as he looked at her. "That was a bit uncalled for, Lydia."
He said as he looked around and saw a few other people that he knew from the school. He was use to being in some form of pain when he was hanging out with his best friend. "Look at you all dressed up, have you seen Malfoy? He looks like a bleeding Vicar!" He smiled slightly, glancing around quickly to see that Emma Richardson, a fifth year who had been involved in the hospital wing and had defined another fellow Gryffindor was at the ball with the Durmstrang Champion. He gave a quick nod to the two before turning back to the lady he had brought with him. "Anyway what does champion duty require of you this evening Potter? I heard randomers from the ministry and stuff might be coming so who knows Dad might be here." He smiled at his best friend and shrugged... "I think someone told me I had to open the ball with dancing... And if your dad is here, maybe mom and dad will be too... You know how they are never far apart."
It was the truth and soon, they were going into the ball room. He had seen one of the Wesley boys with Katie Bell it seemed. He saw Susan Bones, who he had heard had tried to ask him out, but he had already asked Lydia... As soon as the ball had been announced, he made sure to get Lydia because he did not know who else he wanted to go out with and she was his best friend.

Tom was so pleased with the empowerment he felt at being so high above the others, and it almost seemed as though Tanis felt the same. Tom was too busy smiling at the thought of being so far above the others, but as good things always would, it would come to an end. It was necessary for them to descend into the ballroom, although he knew that they would remain as the center of attention for some time. He was the Hogwarts' Champion, he would dance first.
“I suppose we should make our way into the ballroom now,” Tom commented, offering his same, charming smile to a passing group of Slytherins. A few waved, and he did not miss the jealous glare that one or two of the girls aimed at Tanis. “After all, the Champions are the first to dance.”[/ul]

“I really wish you wouldn’t bring that up Will. I still think about that poor Ravenclaw. I never did get up to the part of actually speaking to Harry.” Susan replied to Will, still a bit let down about the whole incident. A few people still hadn’t given up teasing her. “But thank you Will, I’m lucky to have a good friend like you.”
As they entered the Great Hall, she noticed Lydia and Harry and quickly ducked behind Will. Maybe going to the ball hadn’t been her greatest idea at all. “I bet you, the two of them are talking about what happened the other day. Someone told me Colin Creevey had taken pictures. I just know they were passed all around their common room. I’m probably the most pathetic girl ever.” Susan knew she was being a bit irrational, but then again she always got like this around boys. First Cedric, then Lockhart, and now Harry, she seriously needed much better luck when it came to finding a boyfriend. Something told her it may be the beginning of a long night.

Tanis looked at Tom and briefly nodded. "Yes, I suppose we should." As they walked down the staircase, Tom gave his signature charming smile to the other Slytherins that happened to be there. Tanis, on the other hand, kept her expression neutral and stoic. She couldn't tell if she was actually happy to be here or not. Large, formal, social events were not her forte. She tried as hard as she possibly could to not show the awkwardness she was feeling inside. And she was doing a pretty damn good job of it. She brushed off the glares of jealousy other girls gave to Tanis. They were not worth her time. However, she quickly saw that Tom noticed these glares. He was doing nothing to stop it, like Tanis expected. After all, Tom needed to stay on the good side of those girls. And Tanis needed to live up to the expectations of attending the Yule Ball with a champion.
She looked quite exquisite, she knew she did. Her long, dark hair hanging free around her shoulders and a small emerald hung from a silver chain around her neck. Her dress was exquisite as she, with a beautiful emerald fabric pulled tight around the feminine curves of her bosom to her hips, with the fabric flaring out in a typical ball-gown style, but short in the front and long in the back, showing off her legs. Little silver details on the dress matched well with her silver-white shoes.
She was dressed to stun tonight, and she was sure that she'd even be able to get Riddle's attention. She was going with a respectable pureblood who shared her standards. They got along reasonably well, and so Talitha had been content to accept his offer to attend the ball with him. It was surely more acceptable for the eldest daughter of Regulus and Lucretia Black to attend with a respectable pureblood than for her to have attended alone. The Yule Ball was going to be fantastic, she just knew it.[/ul]

Sebastian waited in front of the ballroom at the foot of one of the more stationary staircases. He was dressed in the finest dress robes his father's family could afford. After all, he was heir to Walter Kinchley. He had to look spectacular and more handsome than he already was... at least in his opinion. And what could be better than Talitha Black on his arm when he entered the ballroom? Not only was she of the noble Black family, but they had very similar ideals regarding blood purity. She was educated to act like a proper lady at social events. Her mother was one of pureblooded societies most known socialites.
Sebastian played with the hem of his robes. The robes were black, as were his slacks and shoes. He wore a deep sapphire waistcoat over a white, button-up shirt. He completed the look with a black tie and his father's silver pocket watch. He briefly checked the time on his pocket watch. He had a few minutes before he could consider Talitha late. The moment he put his pocket watch away, Talitha walked down the stairs. Sebastian had to admit... she looked stunning. The emerald green fabric was wrapped around her perfectly and definitely showed off her finer features. "Talitha, you look absolutely stunning," Sebastian greeted. He took a black rose corsage from under his robes and presented it to Talitha. "I figured a black flower would be satisfactory for a member of the most noble house of Black."
