We are set at the very end of book 7. Just after the battle at Hogwarts. Only difference is, your fave canons, they all survived! Crazy huh? Of course people died, it was tragic of course, Bellatrix Lestrange still ate dirt at the hands of Molly Weasley. Molly and the rest of the Weasley's lost Arthur Weasley, which they are still trying to come to terms with.
Hagrid didn't survive either, without magic to defend himself he was simply over whelmed by the death eaters.
A few others are gone also, but the sad news can wait till you've settled in.
Now all that is left is to pick up, move on and try to rebuild. Hopefully you will join us to do so. Oh yeah, and Voldie's still dead, Harry keeled him!
